Though Terrageena is sold only for topical application, many of this author’s research and findings are based on the consumption of certain clays as well as applying clays to the skin. By displaying segments of the following article, we are simply offering the reader more complete information on the overall therapeutic and cosmetically beneficial properties of Teraageena’s Natural Green Smectite Clay.
MEDICINAL EARTHSGeotherapy
Translated and paraphrased from the Spanish text: “Natural Medicine” by Eduardo Gallego Duque
The Wisdom of Mother EarthWhere do minerals and the food that we eat come from? From Earth. “Why then don’t we take the minerals straight from the their source? –asks Professor Mantovani to himself.
We should always be in contact with the blessed land we come from and where we shall return to, if we want to live a healthy life. This land cannot only cure diseases, but can also prevent them. Earth provides the body with all the necessary elements, in its suitable measure, undeniable since it is the source of all energy and of vital principals.
Dr. Zudaire states: “Healing earths are not only recommended for intestinal intoxication, but also for poisoning cases due to diverse toxic ingestions. They are also a valuable remedy which contribute with a great quantity of basic elements to alkalize the organism. Healing clay influences as a biocatalyst of conjunctive tissue. The Powers of ClayThe absorbing capacity of clay is extraordinary. According to Raymond Dextreit of France, when mixed with other smelly substances, the smell disappears since clay has absorbed it. Clay has the capacity of attracting, absorbing and stimulating the elimination of toxic or useless elements Generally speaking, it has a remarkable resistance to chemical agents. As a bacteria destructor, clay can change polluted water into innocuous water.
Dextriet also states that clay’s absorbing capacity contributes to removing the chlorine flavor from water. This action is not only exclusively limited to its deodorizing capacity but once a person consumes it, it goes along he digestive tract destroying intruding agents, even gases.
Its Energetic Power is Extraordinary
Among the therapeutic properties of clay we can mention its inflammation reducing capacity, as well as its refreshing, decongestant, purifying, cicatrizant, absorbing, smoothing and anti-bacteriological properties.
Clay is one of the most powerful and perfect disinfectants, because instead of functioning indiscriminately as a drug, the wet clay inhibits or stops the development of pathogenic germs benefiting call regeneration. In other words it works in a selective way enabling the would to heal.
Clay can heal extremely fast when it is applied as a cataplasm or poultice on a certain wound or ulcer. Furthermore, its great cicatrizant capacity leaves almost untraceable signs on the skin, due to its aluminum silicate content.
Moreover, its absorption property is attributed to its porosity, which enables the clay to collect a great amount of heat, so as to attract and later remove toxins accumulated under the skin.
Clay is a Good Skin StimulantThere are certain uses which do not require any special training. This is the case of clay as a beauty product. Natural clay masks are used by a great number of beauty centers without any other complementary natural practice that guarantees successful results.
Clay is such a good skin stimulant that not purifies and heals the skin, but it also benefits the expulsion of uric acid accumulated in it. Its spectacular effects can be observed with clay poultices.
Its soothing effect acts on painful areas and it is especially effective on swollen superficial areas of the skin (bruises, burns, insect bites, poison ivy), since it refreshes and reduces the inflammation, losing its effects when it gets warmer. The clay’s capacity is enhanced with the heat from the skin or when it is applied to a hot poultice.
Clay is also recommended for greasy hair treatments since it absorbs and cleans the grease from tissues. A wet paste is made. It is then it is poured on the hair as a shampoo. Leave it there for at leas a half hour, then rinse.
Due to the fact that it absorbs grease, clay can be applied as a mask on dry skins since it does not make it drier. As every natural product does, it balances and revitalizes the skin.
Clay is particularly rich in certain diastases and enzymes which do not destroy among themselves in their action. Some of these diastases, the oxydases, assimilate the free oxygen, purifying and enriching blood.
Clay benefits blood with a suitable pH which is slightly alkaline, since it contributes to the neutralization of impurities, nitrogenous substances and acid elimination.
This clay is a powerful agent for the stimulation, transformation and transmission of energy. All clay particles retain a considerable quantity of energy derived from the powerful magnetic field of earth.
The toxicity of certain harmful substances is considerably reduced with clay. The antiseptic and antibiotic properties of clay are well known. As in all natural remedies, clay not only works specifically on one or more varieties of bacteria, but it also prevents their proliferation by reinforcing the body’s immune system. This earth product works in all directions.
This clay is praised for its absorption, adsorption and neutralization, all contributing to very efficient drainage of tissue impurities.
High Silica ContentThe Silica content in green Smectite is highest of all clays. Silica has an important role in the bone, vascular, nervous and respiratory systems. Its action on elastic fibers is fundamental and takes part in the constitution of tendons, skins and facias. It is the best remineralizing agent on earth. Although everything is important in biology, the role of silica is more relevant than it was thought decades ago. In ancient times, the analytic methods did not exist, but the significance of silica for health was widely known and it was used in most sick patients.
Louis Pasteur stated “the therapeutic action of silica performs an impressive role”. Pasteur was particularly interested in clay and its therapeutic properties.
Silica in indeed, one of the 12 most important elements in the composition of a human being. It has a fundamental role in nutrition. It is a general element that intervenes in the immune system, and performs a key role in detoxification processes.
Improvements have been noticed in the growth of vegetables and in their defenses against parasites and in the yield of wheat, oats, millet, and barley crops by adding silica to the soil. Silica is in the enamel of our teeth, nails, hair and skin whose flexibility as in any other tissue is related to the presence of this element.
The normal quantity of silica that our body requires daily is about 20 to 30 mg. The element is typically supplied by fruits and meats. Water also contains silica, that is pure water, ground water, not water calcareous which is poor in silica.
Silica loss not only leads to bone demineralization but also to the loss of calcium and other minerals. Therefore it is suggested that silica is taken into consideration in every therapy.
The pancreas contains the highest concentration of silica of any body organ. Silica contributes to waste removal and it is a significant detoxification factor. It acts as a general mineralizing agent especially on the conjunctive tissue, a key element in the organic defense to carcinogenic cells proliferation. On the contrary, cancer proliferates in regions with calcareous soils. Furthermore, silica benefits phosphorus assimilation, that is the reason why it has to be administered in nervous and asthenic disorders, which are more common, every day.
Taken internally, silica improves diabetic conditions and other more serious conditions, clearly illustrating the obviously beneficial effects of the clay as a healthy topical mud. Silica is the concrete for our cells. Replenishing our skin with this prime element, combined with all of the other wonderful minerals and elements contained inside each particle, creates a magical relationship and chemical interaction our skin can significantly benefit from.
Magnesium and Calcium are also found in very high concentrations Green Smectite clay and are discussed on the composition page.
Vocabulary adsorption: the expulsion of impurities which are in suspension in the body’s liquid ( blood, lymph, bile) and its later drainage and elimination.
calcareous: Refers to a sediment, sedimentary rock, or soil type which is formed from or contains a high proportion of calcium carbonate in the form of calcite or aragonite. It is also used to refer to relatively alkaline soil. Frequently this is indeed due to a high calcareous content but there are other causes for a high soil pH.
cicatrizant: A medicine or application that promotes the healing of a sore or wound, or the formation of a cicatrix.
poultice : A soft, moist mass of cloth, bread, meal, herbs, etc., applied hot as a medicament to the body.
